A special ceremony took place on Wednesday 1st July 2026 at Silverwood Scout Campsite to mark 110 years since the Battle of the Somme.
Silverwood holds a unique place in history — it was used as a training site for The Barnsley Pals: ordinary men who volunteered together and served side‑by‑side.
It was a moving tribute honouring those who trained here and those who never came home.
We will remember them.
